Hey there
I'm Charity (I prefer LaRae). I'm originally from the Magic City - Birmingham, AL but am grateful to call Madison, AL home.
I was led into birth work after the traumatic birth of my son in 2017. Experiencing racial biases in healthcare firsthand, I set out on a mission to prevent other people from being exposed to the injustices of the medical-industrial complex. My journey began with overcoming obstacles with breastfeeding and starting a peer support group - Chocolate Milk Mommies- with an amazing group of friends.
While working through Chocolate Milk Mommies, I realized that many families had unmet needs long before they even reached the postnatal period and I began my Full Spectrum Doula training with Birthing Advocacy.
I realized there was a much bigger calling on my life in 2019 and began my midwifery journey. Focused. Determined. Ambitious. I've created a name for myself in the fight for reproductive justice in Alabama having served as a doula for the Yellowhammer Fund, Public Relations for the Alabama Midwives Alliance and as the North Alabama Regional Director of the Alabama Birth Coalition.
